Implantable Contact Lens
When most people consider the possibility of life without contact lenses or glasses, they’re usually thinking of LASIK or another type of laser eye surgery. Unfortunately, not everyone is a good candidate for LASIK. If you are less than 40 years of age and have a very high prescription, then the use of an additional lens can be a very good alternative to LASIK.
During a brief Implantable Contact Lens treatment under local anesthesia, the Artisan or Artisan lens is implanted through a tiny incision at the edge of the cornea.
The lens consists of an optical and a haptic part. The optical part contains your required correction; it is the part that makes you see better. The haptic part consists of two clips on either side of the lens. This clip contains a tiny opening; with the use of a small, specially designed instrument, a minuscule fold of iris tissue is clamped between the clip. Once the lens is fitted snugly and securely, the main part of the procedure is completed.
In an Artisan lens implantation the tiny incision is subsequently sutured, in an Artiflex implantation the incision is smaller and does not need to be sutured.

Frequently asked questions
What is AcrySof® CACHET™ Phakic Lens?
The AcrySof® CACHET™ phakic lens works with your natural lenses to help focus light for sharper distance vision. As part of a vision correction procedure known as phakic surgery, the AcrySof® CACHET™ phakic lens is implanted in the anterior chamber of your eye. Once in place, phakic lenses add the focusing power you need to help correct high myopia. It’s like wearing your glasses or contacts all the time – but without all the worry.
What is The Artisan and Artiflex Phakic Intra-Ocular Lens?
Artisan and Artiflex lenses are small, ultra-thin contact lenses that are implanted into the eye to correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness and / or cylinder deviations. An Artisan or Artiflex lens is attached to the iris with two tiny clips. Once implanted, the lens remains permanently in your eye.Artisan and Artiflex lenses could very well be a solution if you are troubled by glasses or contact lenses. For those with significant degrees of astigmatism the PHAKIC ICL of choice is the Artisan Ophtec Iris-Fixated ICL. Hyperopia, astigmatism, and myopia are treated with this lens.
